- Welcome to the site about plastic recycling.
-
- Plastic recycling is a relative new matter therefore there is a lot of confusion, a lot of plastic recycling experts, thousands of different machinery and systems to choose from, plus all the home made engineering widely spread around the entire world.
-
- Let's go to the subjects, one by one, so you may better understand what we're talking about.
-
- When
buying machinery, the very first question it should
come to your mind is " are my operating costs low
enough to make money out of this ?
"
- Obvious,
you may say.
- Not
that much, believe me.
-
- Most
of everybody is looking for cheap stuff, cheap to all
extents; WRONG.
- What
about going with less machinery, more simple and truly
effective to keep costs low ?
-
- It
is not rare to see plants with lots of different devices
added to the system because one machine is not performing
very well so, to correct the problem, another one has
been added, increasing energy and maintenance costs, space etc.,
while the way to go is to replace it with a good one.
-
- Yeah,
but what about the money ?
- OK,
if you run the numbers, normally the new investment
comes back in few month while adding a machine, money
never come back, ever.
-
- Here an example:
- When
dealing with thin materials one of the most difficult
problems is drying.
- What
most of people do after a mechanical dryer that doesn't
perform well ?
- -
Add another dryer like another centrifuge, squeezing
press etc.
- -
Add an expensive, energy eater, hot air drying equipment.
- -
Go with an agglomerator with hundreds of kW .
- -
You name it
-
- What
about looking around for a centrifuge dryer that delivers
flakes with few % moisture and that's it ?
- Too
easy ?
- Nothing
is too easy in plastic recycling and, by the way, this
kind of dryer does exist.
-
- This
is our philosophy:
- Make
it easy.
- Make
it cost effective.
- Take
care of all the aspects of the business.
-
- Of
course, sometimes, when very high purity is required,
the story can be a little bit more complicated,
at least for the fact that the system requires a
lot of different steps to get the required quality
but, still, with a little of common sense, things
can be set up in oder to make life easy:
-
- For
instance, in a PET washing line there are lots of
gear boxes involved; if all gear boxes are out of
the same brand, with little money you can keep spares
good for everything; the system may cost 0,5% more
but if something happens you will be back running
the plant in no time.
-
- There
are very many little things to consider when buying
a system.
-
- Fines,
and again we are talking about o PET bottles washing
line, is an issue not many really care much of;
- Now,
a normal system delivers between 2 and 3% fines,
and there is very little to do about it.
- Now,
the point is if fines are collected in
a part of the system where are still wet and dirty
while some other (not many indeed) are collecting
fines at the end of the system, meaning clean and
dry.
-
- Nobody
wants fines togeter with flakes, but if you get
them clean and dry you'll be able to find another
application, or to sell them and make some money
out of it.
-
- Running
a 1000 Kg/hour system, if fines are 2%, you get
20 Kg/hour, times 24 hours, times 300 days/year,
times the few cents you can make by selling them
makes.........you run your numbers.
-
- So,
think a lot before buying a machine or a system
because a little thing here and another there, can
make a huge difference about what is left in your
poket.
-
- We
believe we can be of some help.
