- Mixed
plastics.
-
-
- In
Europe started few years ago and the system will
surely spread around most countries of the world
pretty soon.
-
- This
because, by the low, it will not be possible to
dump plastics. Period.
-
- What
to do with mix plastics ?
-
- First,
don't do as somebody did in the past years: grinding,
(almost) washing and agglomerating.
- The
result, in terms of many thousands tons, is sitting
there, waiting since years to find some kind of
application.
-
- It
is not even good for incenerators.
-
- By
the way, back to things well done.
-
- To
get a "decent" product out of MIX plastics,
and may be make some money out of it, it takes:
-
- First
a damn good separation system, at least to get bottles
and rigid items one side and soft (film) the other
way.
-
- Then,
you may want to go for another separation for rigid
items because an high percent of it will be PET
and HDPE bottles, that have a value and will pay
for the sorting system.
-
- PET
requires a further final sorting before going into
the washing line, HDPE bottles will require a simple
system by itself and the rest should be washed as
well, with some separation between olefins and other
plastics (sinking).
-
- Film
is the other half of the world and it needs another
system by itself.
-
- All
this may sound difficult and complicated but it
is not indeed; it is matter to do thigs right.
-
- First,
don't ever think you will get a first class product;
this will never happen and if somebody tells you
this, just ask him to show you a system working
and collect a sample of the final product.
- Then
look around to see how many people is involved,
get to the main panel and check to total power consumption
and divide it by the (real) throughput.
-
- And
let me know.
